Relationship with Society

In order to establish trust with customers, we attach a great deal of importance on the disclosure of environment-related information through Social and Environment Report, Site Report (mainly describing ISO 14001 activities at our plants), Toyo Seikan's Homepage, as well as exhibitions and advertisements in magazines. Since 2006, a stakeholder meeting has been held regularly to exchange views and opinions with consumers.

Corporate Governance

The Toyo Seikan Group considers that the enhancement of corporate governance is the most important issue in its business management, and is continuously working towards this goal in order to contribute to society through its corporate activities while maximizing corporate value and continuing new development and evolution based on the fundamental philosophy that it has adhered to since its foundation.

Compliance

With each passing day, there is increasing demand from society for compliance in corporate activities. The Toyo Seikan Group is consistently working to improve its compliance promotion activities so that all executives and employees will always take the correct course of action.

Toyo Seikan, as a total packaging manufacturer, consistently recognizes the influence our products & services has on the environment, and has made efforts to reduce environmental impacts. In addition, a necessary organization is formed to execute the environmental objectives & goals in order to correctly structure an environment management system.

Communication through Exhibition

Tokyo Pack 2008

Tokyo Pack 2008

The largest packaging exhibition in the Asian region, Tokyo Pack 2008, was held on October 7 to 11. Based on the theme "Power Solution: Powers of Development and Solution," six of the Toyo Seikan Group companies (Toyo Seikan, Toyo Kohan, Toyo Glass, Tokan Kogyo, Japan Crown Cork, and Nippon Tokan Package) made a joint exhibition.


Eco-Products 2008

In October 2008, the Toyo Seikan Group submitted an entry to Eco-Products 2008, the largest environmental exhibition in Japan. With easy-to-understand poster displays, presentations and enjoyable interactive events such as quiz shows related to the principles of 3R (Reduction of CO2), and the Toyo Seikan Group's eco-friendly products, our booth received more than 5,000 visitors during the three days from December 11 to 13.

Communication with Stakeholders

Communication with Stakeholders

Toyo Seikan holds stakeholders’ meetings to provide opportunities for communication.
In FY2009, a fourth meeting was held in collaboration with the Japan Council on the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD-J), where opinions were exchanged on the expectations for and collaboration with Toyo Seikan from the viewpoint of ESD-J.

Environmental Education

Environment-related education at plants

As part of the ISO14001 environment management activities, each plant regularly provides all employees with general education and special education opportunities, aimed at sharing expert knowledge and skills. Furthermore, each plant actively participates in environmental seminars held by communities and local public bodies.

Starting from 2000, an annual environmental seminar is held at head office as part of an environmental education program, which features guest speakers from outside the company. In the seminar held in June 2008, there were roughly 90 participants from the Toyo Seikan Group.
