Expanded microcapsule foamed ink provides an irregular concave and convex pattern on the printed surface; different texture from mat printing. This technology is applicable to TULC, aTULC, DWI and welded cans.

• 1. Thermally expandable microcapsules (thermoplastics) containing volatile solvent are mixed in with ordinary ink.
• 2. The solvent in the microcapsules vaporize in the baking oven greatly expanding the microcapsules to generate a foamed texture.
  Almost all the solvent diffuses through the microcapsule membrane.
