It enables reproduction of graphics that could not be done with conventional relief printing.
Fine halftone dots and high screen rulings allow higher-quality printing such as photo-like finish, smooth gradation and fine line works.

With waterless printing, the ink is repelled from non-image areas by silicon layer, while the ink remains in the concave image area where the silicon layer is removed by photographic exposure. Halftone dots can be smaller as compared with relief printing, allowing more refined reproduction.
